Celebrating Beltane with Tarot & Journalling

Beltane is a Pagan Celtic festival that has been celebrated for centuries. It's unknown how far back this celebration goes, but the earliest recorded celebration goes back to the 10th Century. Beltane is celebrated on April 30th into May 1st and marks the Equinox- the halfway point between spring and summer and signals the arrival of warmer weather, fertility, and new life bursting through.

Beltane encourages us to witness the earth waking up from winter, to connect with nature, love, and the circle of life and prepare for the abundance that summer promises.

Traditionally, communities would light bonfires to celebrate the start of the new chapter of the year where cattle could be released into pastures. Rituals were also performed to protect crops and people - warding off evil spirits, and encouraging good harvests and fertility

For many people, Beltane is also a time for release, as well as manifesting what you wish to enter into your life.

I like to do Tarot spreads for each season, as well as journal about my hopes etc for the season. So I thought I would share the spread I made this year for Beltane and some journal prompts.

A tarot spread for Beltane with positions marked. The cards form a circle starting at the bottom. 1 is the card that represents the energy of beltane. 2 what needs to be released? 3. what can i manifest? 4. what needs to be nurtured? 5. how can i bring light and growth into my life? 6. what wants to be reborn?

I use my 'Witch's Wisdom' Tarot deck for monthly and seasonal readings as I feel it has a really lovely earthy and grandmotherly energy.
